Office + OneNote 0.4

Here’s a fourth update to the Office + OneNote chapter in Windows Phone book. This update fills in the introductory material, including an overview of the Windows Phone Office hub.

Updates in this chapter include the introductory material as well as the entire Office hub section, which includes bits about Places, Recent, creating new documents, working with documents, and commands that are common between Word, Excel and PowerPoint Mobile.

The chapter is coming together: One more section is left, about OneNote Mobile. Hopefully I can get that finished quickly early in the week. Given the current page count (44 pages with images), this will likely end up being one of the longer chapters in the book, which makes sense given the content.

Office + OneNote 0.3

This third update to the Office + OneNote chapter in Windows Phone book focuses on the Excel Mobile app.

Excel Mobile is arguably the most powerful of the Office Mobile apps so there’s a lot to write about. (Indeed, you could write a mini-book about just Excel Mobile functions, though I tried to restrain myself.) This section includes bits about opening and navigating workbooks, selecting cells, switching between sheets, formatting and finding text and numbers, functions, AutoSum, sorting, filters, and charts. A lot of good stuff. (In fact, I’m a bit worried I missed something.)

Unimportant trivia: This represents the 50th update I’ve made to the full book document.

Office + OneNote 0.2

Here is a second update for the next chapter in Windows Phone book, Office + OneNote. This update includes the section on the Word Mobile app.

As expected, the Word Mobile section was a bit longer than the PowerPoint Mobile section, as it’s a more full-featured mobile app. This section includes bits about opening, viewing, and editing documents, formatting and finding text, and using outline view and comments. The usual suspects.

Just a quick update with a new version of the full book document. I've decided to remove the section heading pages from the book, so this reduces the page count by 5.

The Next Chapter, Office + OneNote

Here is a very early peek at the next chapter in Windows Phone book, Office + OneNote. This chapter focuses on the Office hub—Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Mobile plus the SkyDrive and SharePoint integration—and the OneNote Mobile app.

I was originally going to write Security + Networking next and did in fact start filling out the topics list for that chapter, but this one seemed a little more interesting.

In its current form, Chapter 12: Office + OneNote is only very partially complete. I wrote the PowerPoint Mobile section and have filled out the major topic areas, which include sections about the Office hub, working with documents, and four Office Mobile apps. OneNote is set apart because of its special place on Windows Phone.

Not much to see here, in other words. That said, feedback is always appreciated, especially around the topic coverage.
