Bing Search and Maps 0.6

Here's another update to the Bing Search and Maps chapter. This version includes a first draft version of the Local Scout coverage (which is sort of hidden in something called "Find places nearby," making me wonder if I don't need to split that out a bit), and small sections on finding movies and products. I'll try to wrap up the Bing half of this chapter today or tomorrow and get moving on the Maps part.

Bing Search and Maps 0.5

Here's a third and more minor update to the Search and Maps chapter which has been renamed to Bing Search and Maps. This one has some minor revisions throughout and I've written up a bit on Quick cards, which factor into certain vertical searches.

Search and Maps 0.3

Here's an update to the Search and Maps chapter. This adds sections on Find anything (including Instant Answers) and Find images and video. I will be writing more today and will likely publish a 0.4 version of this chapter later today as well. But generally speaking, I need to spend more time on this book than I've been doing: I guess the problem with not having a deadline is that you stop worrying about deadlines. So I will be spending time writing this book every day going forward. I'd like this to be completed soon, not sometime in the next decade. So it's time to step it up a bit.

Search and Maps 0.2

Here's a rough peek at some progress in the Search and Maps chapter. I've pretty much specced out how I see the Bing section being structured (and have pretty much ignored Maps). As I often do, I'm jumping around writing content in kind of an unorganized fashion as the mood strikes. So the Bing Music Search section is pretty much done and the Bing Vision section is partially done. (I'm actually kind of surprised by how well Vision works, btw.) And that's about where we're at.
