Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 8:05PM Another update to the PC integration chapter. I'm thinking the first draft of this short chapter will be done by tommorrow night, but certainly by the weekend.
This update includes rough sections on the Windows Phone desktop application (iTunes and WMP/file system sync) and shared Internet connections.
Monday, December 10, 2012 at 8:24PM This update to Chapter 23: PC Integration includes new sections on AutoPlay, the Windows Phone app for Windows 8, and renaming your phone.
Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 6:15PM Here's an early draft of Chapter 23, PC Integration. Two sections--importing photos and file system access---are done, but I can tell this will be a short chapter, so I should be able to finish it up in a couple of days.

Monday, November 26, 2012 at 2:48PM Mary Jo Foley reminded me this morning that the Messaging app in Windows Phone 8 does not support group messaging on Verizon. Apparently, the wireless carrier is able to disable this feature, presumably for spam reasons. I'm not sure yet if this affects messaging to Groups or Rooms, but suspect it at least affects the former. I will try to find out and need to add a note to that effect to this chapter.
Of course, this raises a broader issue around which Windows Phone 8 features can be disabled by carriers. I doubt Microsoft will want to address that, and suspect such a list would be longer than wanted and somewhat polarizing.
